The Veil is a metaphor for every broken woman who ever had to piece herself back together into something new (and slightly terrifying) to disrupt old patterns and cycles of trauma. A graphic examination of what it costs to See things as they are and to carry the weight of that truth."
- Loretta Chefchaouni. Author of The Lustrous Dark

"This is a fantastic paranormal horror story. The creepy forest shadow, the missing girls, the wolves... I loved everything about the way the author wrote this . The scene that is blamed on the cherry soda vape was so well told . the visual The Veil is on point. definitely, check this one out . Thank you IndieTron this was one of my favorites."
- Cassandra Joy, Goodreads

"Welcome to White Veil: home of cherry pie, evergreen trees, small town charm… and apparently a disturbingly high number of murdered women. So, basically, Twin Peaks if the town stopped pretending everything was fine. 😂🌲
The Veil pulled me in with that classic small town horror setup, then slowly tightened the noose. Noor Winters was supposed to escape White Veil. She’s a model, activist, and former homecoming queen who has spent years pushing back against the town’s disturbing history and its treatment of its strongest women. Then Noor is found dead and strung up in the evergreens like a marionette. And that’s when things get really interesting. Because Noor’s story doesn’t end with her death. Her rage becomes something bigger a spark that threatens to expose a community that’s become frighteningly comfortable looking the other way. The question isn’t simply who killed Noor? It’s whether anyone is finally willing to break the cycle. I really enjoyed the way this leans into small town horror, feminist rage, mystery, and the “something is VERY wrong here” atmosphere. There’s something particularly creepy about a place that looks picturesque on the outside while hiding something rotten underneath.
You’ve got cherry pie.
You’ve got evergreen forests.
You’ve got a town full of secrets.
And you’ve got murdered women.
I’ll take the pie to go, thanks. 😂
What makes the premise stand out is that Noor isn’t simply another victim in a horror story. Her anger becomes part of the story itself, turning her death into a confrontation with the people and traditions that allowed these horrors to continue. The Veil feels like the kind of book where the town itself is a character and definitely not one you should trust. If you enjoy small town horror, dark mysteries, Final Girl energy, feminist horror, eerie settings, and stories about communities hiding ugly secrets, this is one worth putting on your TBR." -
Zane, Goodreads

"A short but immersive story that sucks you in. I couldn’t put it down from start to finish.
Different from my normal reads in content but a refreshing take on the women in horror genre.
Well written, coherent and great character development, that doesn’t take away from a great plot all in a novella that feels like a full on novel. Her take on showcasing diversity in a horror novella while showing it as normalized in their world is needed more in literature.
I can’t wait to read more from Niyyah."
-LisaNicole, Goodreads

Cover reveal...

https://www.niyyahwriting.com/the-veil/cover-reveal

https://www.niyyahwriting.com/the-veil/cover-reveal#comments

Uncategorized

      [...]
